It is important to dispose of cigarettes properly to prevent littering and environmental pollution. When on the beach, I make sure to dispose of my cigarettes in designated ashtrays or bins provided by the beach authorities. If there are no designated bins, I carry a portable ashtray with me to safely store and dispose of my cigarette butts. Menthol cigarettes were banned in the United States because the FDA found that menthol flavoring makes it easier for people, especially young individuals, to start smoking and become addicted. The ban was also implemented to address health disparities, as menthol cigarettes are disproportionately used by Black Americans and are associated with higher rates of tobacco-related health issues in this community.
